Development Seminar 2026-27
Development seminars are important public discussions organized to form the annual and five-year plans of local self-government institutions in Kerala. As part of participatory planning, local development strategies and priorities are decided through these seminars.
Key stages of a development seminar
In the formation of the local governance plan, the development seminar has the following key responsibilities:
Presentation of draft plan: The draft documents of priority plans prepared by working groups are presented in the seminar.
Expert discussion: Experts and public representatives discuss various sectors like agriculture, education, health, tourism, and basic infrastructure development.
Public participation: Local residents get the opportunity to provide suggestions and complaints and recommend changes to the plans.
Preparation of final document: Based on the discussions in the seminar, the final draft of the plan is prepared and forwarded through the gram sabhas and then to the local governance committee.
